Locke Travel Update

For anyone who is thinking of coming to the airport or praying for our specifics of travel back to the States, please keep us in your prayers! We are having a bit of a time finding good tickets from Cape Town to Johannesburg early next week. We originally planned to leave Johannesburg on Monday, now we're scheduled for Tuesday and we may need to change it to Wednesday now. So, flexibility reigns and TRUST and FAITH are needing to be big! Thanks for remembering us. Again, if you're interested in meeting us at the airport, please email Tammy who will have the current info at acts3v6@gmail.com. Thanks! I'll send a quick email when we know more.

"FREEDOM!!!!"

My brothers and sisters at Hillside,

I just had this urge to write to you at this moment to declare the glory of our Heavenly Father and the freedom he brings and offers to each of us. I pray that each of us knows and grabs hold of and declares this freedom in each of our lives. To paint the picture clearly I am thinking of the movie Braveheart and at the end of the movie the character William Wallace screams out Freedom. That is what I desire for each of us to feel and recognize in our own lives that through Jesus we have that very same freedom.

So I declare "FREEDOM!"

Thank you Jesus!

Love Steph

Goodbye Nelspruit, South Africa

I decided to post this on the blog so you can read it and stay caught up with the Lockes, as they travel back to the US. Please be praying for them. Thank you!
IHS, Cammie

Jesus is amazing through His Body! Thank you for all that you have done by way of friendship, prayer, encouragement, finances, houses, provisions for our family. We are so grateful that God would bless us through your generosity.
Once again, we have miraculous provisions for tickets back to the States. Thank you, Steve! We have one last leg of our journey to purchase. Please pray for all those details to come together and that we will have what we need when we need it. We still have to purchase the plane tickets to get from Cape Town to Johannesburg on Monday the 18th so we can catch our flight back to the States. There are some hitches here that we need Jesus to work out quickly. Please pray that we will have faith and peace.
We are flying standby, supposedly on Monday the 18th from Johannesburg to Atlanta, then standby from Atlanta to Salt Lake, then standby from Salt Lake to Portland to arrive at 4:55 PM on Tuesday the 19th! That is with a family of 6, 6 big check bags and 8 carryons. Pray that we will make every flight and all of us will travel well and God's favor would be on us. If you are interested in meeting us at the airport, Tammy will have the current info on our traveling status. You can email her at acts3v6@gmail.com or call at 503-632-7779.
The Lord has also made incredible provision for a place for us to live in our own space until mid to end of June near Canby, OR! Thanks Mike!! More on that later.

Please pray that we will have everything we need when we need it and that we will trust Him for it all! Pray for Heath on Saturday as he is performing our friends' wedding in Cape Town.
Thanks for your love and prayers. I've cried too many tears today and I'm exhausted! Goodbye dear Nelspruit, SA and all our new family here, and we are excited to say hello once again to the States and all our family and friends there!

Our God can combat...

...the lies of the enemy, our city of ruins...

I have been hit so many times in the past 24 hours with people who have said different things ranging from a lack of confidence, a doubt, a fear, a lack of joy, a stronghold, a burden too hard to bare, etc. I have also heard many times people proclaiming that these thoughts are not of the Lord. But, our enemy is out to ruin our cities (as Zach taught on yesterday). What a wonderful message and a great reminder! I know that each of us have these negative thoughts daily. We believe that our God can combat these weaknesses and rebuild our cities! The Holy Spirit will flood our souls with his fruits if we just ask! And if we worship with all of our hearts! The destroyer cannot destroy that which is not His. We are not His, we have been crucified with Christ and it is Christ who lives in us today and for eternity. Let's proclaim this together today Hillside. Pray for your neighbors, your friends, even your FAMILY who do not know the Lord. Invite them to church. Not because of numbers but because I imagine the Lord, looking down on us, waiting for each of our cities to be rebuilt and for more of his children's temples to be rebuilt! He desires this of us, he asks! We must pray first, and then find those who do not believe in Jesus. I am full of fear about this command and this charge. I am praying today and asking the Holy Spirit to wipe away my fear and flood my city with hope and trust!! I pray this for each of us. And ask that you pray for me too.

Monday Monday...so good to me...

IHS,
Cammie

Convenience

The other week. I was chatting with my friend. We talked about our busy lives and tried to make a date to meet for coffee. Monday wouldn't work - her kids have sports practice. Tuesday was also out - I had group, her son had a game that night. Wednesday night?- No I couldn't do that. Bible Study.- Ok, how about Thursday or Friday? Well, Friday night is SRF, but I am free on Thursday. Nope, she had just joined a new Bible Study and she was busy this Thursday.

Oh how wonderful! For years and years, I had been trying to get her to come with me to Bible Study! I was thrilled that she finally found one that she felt comfortable enough to join. I asked all about it. We chatted about her new group and what they were studying. Finally, I had to ask "What made you decide to join this particular group?"

"Because" she said, "it only meets once a month. That I have time for."

WOW. . .

Do I do that? Is that me? What is my life telling others? Is my "light" dim? Is my family looking through me or to me? Am I half empty or completely filled? Where do I put my trust? Is Christianity a matter of convenience, a duty, or a love?

Thank you Lord for having time for me and for Your grace.

Dear brothers and sisters,

As I rose early this morning for work, I asked what is it Lord that you have in mind for me today? What do you want me to accomplish today? What mission do you have for me today? How can I encourage and love someone today? All these questions led me to think of the family we have at Hillside. I could not get past the love and encouragement that my family receives from this wonderful group of people. I cannot express in words how much of a blessing this is for my family. The only way I can possibly do this is to love and encourage you back. As I prayed this morning about all of this I came to realize more than ever that we are part of a wonderful family.

As the morning proceeded I started to think about writing this blog and came to wonder should I sign my name. I prayed about it and the prayer transformed to a prayer that anyone of us at Hillside could write these very words. I pray that anyone that walks through the doors at Hillside receives the same love and encouragement that my family has received. I also started to wonder why should it be only to those that walk through our doors; it should be everyone that we come in contact with. We should love and encourage all that we encounter, at work, at the supermarket, at the gym, at the park, at the mall, walking down the street, I could continue to write other places that we could love and encourage people, but I could never make it complete since it can simply be put everywhere! So brothers and sisters I encourage all of you to join in prayer with me that anyone that encounters a member of Hillside feels nothing but love and encouragement. Lets not stop at Hillside, pray for all of the Church as God intended it and pray that all of God’s people will share the same love and encouragement that we are a part of everyday day at Hillside. I look forward to being with all of you tomorrow and being able to sit there and look around and wonder who wrote these words, could everyone of us at the table express the same thoughts and feelings. We love all of you and look forward to loving and encouraging all of you and receiving this very thing in return.

With love,

A brother or sister from Hillside
