Live through the Life

Okay Steph and Cammie, you guys kinda stole my thunder. I hear a song that makes me think about God and his people, and Hillside, and you already have a song theme going... I guess I'll just continue the trend, I'm typically a little late on those anyway right?

For anyone who doesn't know me that well, the "Christianity thing" is relatively new to me (maybe a few years? maybe an honest 1?). This song by Coldplay makes me think of my life with Christ. People familiar with a certain Steve Carell film know how hard it can be for a guy to admit he likes Coldplay. You can rule the world that you live in, but that doesn't matter in the end. Because you can't rule the world that HE rules.

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world
(Ohhh)

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in.
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
(Ohhhhh Ohhh Ohhh)

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

Thank you for listening, Sean M.

That's awesome McPike! Zach's little bro Jesse was just talking about this song a couple weeks ago. Thank you for sharing with us and we are big coldplay fans too. :-) Thank you for entering the hillside blogging world with all of us. What an encouragement you are to us!
